The annual Hampton Festival is a celebration of local produce, gourmet industries and the Hampton district's creative culture.

What a way to spend a gorgeous Sunday in the High Country sitting back and relaxing in the lovely Hampton setting under the majestic blue gums,   enjoying the fantastic live music and enjoying superb, locally made food and wine from one of the many featured regional restaurants and wineries.

New to the Hampton Festival in 2019 was a showcase of up and coming young musicians who performed around the festival site. Another great line up of musicians will performing at the 2020 Festival so keep an eye out for what’s in store.

THE HOBSONS - The Hobsons are back! More songs, attitude and stories. This engaging family band from Highfields features Gerard, Judy and Georgia Hobson. Their album “Don’t Look Back” is available on iTunes and Spotify now.

The Hobsons play original songs mixed with well-known covers that guarantee to get the crowd moving. They will be joined by Mark Chalmers on bass, Harry Schneider on drums and Peter Thornley on lead guitar. Grab a seat, beverage and prepare to enjoy a day in the High Country.

SONGBIRD - Songbird is dedicated to providing the perfect music for any type of event. If you need music for a wedding, party, event or birthday think Songbird.

Contemporary musicians who have performed all over the world playing various styles of music and dedicating themselves to their art. They are all about playing professional music for the individual and entertaining the crowd.

A special 4 piece band combination has been chosen specifically for the 2019 Hampton Festival. We look forward to sharing the day with you.

HIGH COUNTRY COMMUNITY BAND - The High Country Community Band started in early February, 2018 after a ‘good idea’ was hatched between a few local music teachers and community members. The result has been a resounding success. They now have a great sounding ensemble of 20 musicians aged between 9 and 75 years of age. 

This not for profit community concert band truly reflects the High Country Community. Young and old playing music together, enjoying each other’s company and providing music for the various community events between Crows Nest and Highfields and everywhere in between.

SOPHIE VOLP - Sophie is a 16 year old singer songwriter with a passion for storytelling through music. She has recently returned from her first Tamworth Festival after graduating from the Junior Academy of Country Music. She was honoured to perform and share her original music on many Tamworth stages including the Capitol theatre. Sophie also has a passion for musical theatre and was thrilled to be part of this years’ Toowoomba’s production of “Kinky Boots”. Sophie is looking to expand her musical horizons in both musical theatre and original song writing. Stay and share Sophie’s songs.

Six very talented young local musicians will perform in various locations around the Hampton Festival site. We are very pleased to be able to showcase these great young performers and look forward to seeing their careers grow.

 JOSHUA SMITH - VIOLIN

Joshua has been studying violin for 11 years and has commenced his first year of a Bachelor of Music degree at the Queensland Conservatorium, Griffith University. During his years in secondary school Joshua involved himself in an array of opportunities including the CGen Musically Outstanding Students program, State Honours Ensemble Program (in both Darling Downs and Queensland programs) and Queensland Youth Orchestras. Around Toowoomba Josh has performed in the Toowoomba Eisteddfod, TYME music festival and Toowoomba Camerata Youth Concerto concerts. All these programs and events have added to Josh’s love for music and he is looking to pursue a career of music performance and teaching.

DYLAN QUIREY - KEYBOARD

Dylan Quirey was drawn to the piano at the age of 13. His talent for music lies within the love of music genres, particularly the study of rhythm and feel. Dylan has been inspired by the composers of classical music. His greatest musical highlights is playing duets with his 80 year old Great Grandma. Dylan possesses the rare talent of making people smile and making their toes tap. Just enjoy this young artist with an old soul.

 

LILY TURPIN - GUITAR /VOCALS

Lily is a young aspiring artist with a passion for acoustic singer/songwriter music. She combines vocals with guitar, singing both covers and original songs. From a young age, Lily has surrounded herself in music.  She has recently left high school and is in the early stages of her music career. Her musical experience includes recording and performing at a wide range of school events. Be sure to catch this passionate young artist.

ELIOT ARGUS - GUITAR / VOCALS

Eliot Argus is a hardworking 17-Year old local Toowoomba musician. His fusion of different styles & genres is what sets him apart from the crowd. When not playing solo gigs, you can often find him making music with other young talented musicians. Eliot is the writer for an up and coming local band, the Cardboard Cut-outs who are beginning the process of recording and releasing their debut E.P featuring works by Eliot Argus.

JOSELLE YSA - GUITAR / VOCALS 1

Joselle Ysa is a 17 year-old singer/songwriter from Toowoomba. She is a multi- instrumentalist with guitar and vocals being her main instruments. Joselle has an amazing vocal range and broad repertoire of both covers and originals. Her musical influences include: Tori Kelly, Beyoncé, Michael Jackson and Whitney Houston. Stop and take the time to listen to this up and coming artist.

JACOB ASMUSSEN - SOLO METAL GUITARIST

Jacob Asmussen is an 18 year old guitarist who has been playing for 8 years. He is currently studying a Diploma of Sound Engineering at JMC Academy in Brisbane and a Diploma of Production at TAFE Southbank. He is primarily a metal/rock guitarist but can beautifully adapt to any genre with style and feel. While specializing in guitar, Jacob is a multi-instrumentalist with a real plan for a future in the music industry.  You will truly be astounded by the skill of this young prodigy.
